Since 1999 San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum has been “inspiring children to learn about our world through exploration, imagination, and experimentation.” Today they remain the only hands-on educational children’s museum in North San Diego County, serving children ages 0-10 with interactive exhibits and programs focused on science, world cultures, and art.

Puzzle Pieces Marketing undertook a comprehensive rebrand project for the San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum, revitalizing their brand to better reflect their mission of inspiring young minds through hands-on learning and exploration.

What we did:

  • New Color Palette: We introduced a fresh, vibrant color palette that captures the museum’s playful and educational spirit.
  • Typography: Selected a modern, friendly typeface to enhance readability and align with the museum’s family-friendly audience.
  • Graphics & Visual Elements: Designed fun and engaging graphics that visually communicate the museum’s interactive and educational offerings.
  • Messaging Guide: Developed clear and consistent messaging to strengthen the museum’s voice and storytelling across all platforms.
  • Brand Guidelines & Style Guide: Created comprehensive guidelines to ensure cohesive application of the brand across all touchpoints, maintaining consistency and integrity.
  • Brand Kit: Designed a full suite of branded materials, including business cards, letterhead, email newsletter template, and social media graphics, to support the museum’s outreach and engagement efforts.

Outcome: The rebrand not only refreshed the museum’s visual identity but also unified their communication strategy, enhancing their ability to connect with visitors and supporters. The new brand elements reflect the museum’s commitment to creating a vibrant and interactive learning environment for children and families.

Our team created a highly interactive and engaging experience, featuring touch screen interactions, fun graphics, vibrant photos, and bright colors to captivate every visitor’s attention.

Our mission was to mirror the museum’s hands-on, exploratory experience online. The new website allows visitors to dive into a world of discovery and experience how we brought the museum’s magic to the digital world!
